The way Koreans eat is having rice with many different sides dishes.
Side dishes are called 반찬 (Banchan).
If you are familiar with Korean food, you may know about Kimchi, a popular fermented cabbage dish seasoned with chilli peppers.
김치 = Kimchi is one of the main side dishes in Korean cuisine.
There are literally so many different kinds of side dishes.
Today, we will make a simple fish cake side dish using the magic soy sauce.
Fish cake = 어묵 (eo mook) or you can also say 오뎅 (o-deng)
Ingredients
Fish cake
Onions 1/2
Carrot 1
Magic Soy Sauce 3 -4 TSP
Crushed garlic 1 tsp
Chopped spring onions 1TSP
How to make Fish cake with Magic Soy Sauce
Chop onions and Carrots into small, bite sized pieces
Soak the frozen fish cake in hot water for 5 minutes to remove access oil and soften it. Then, cut the fish cake into bite -sized pieces.
Pre heat a pan with oil over medium high heat.
Add 1tsp of crushed garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds
Add the chopped onions and carrots and stir-fry for a couple of minutes
Add the fish cake pieces to the pan and pour the magic soy sauce over top. Stir-fry everything together until the fish cake is cooked through.
Turn off the heat and sprinkle in the chopped spring onions. Stir to combine.
Transfer the fish cake to a container and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Serve the fish cake with rice or as a side dish to your meal. Enjoy!
