Quick and Easy: Danmuji Muchim (Korean Pickled Radish Side Dish)

Updated: Jun 8, 2023

Danmuji Muchim (Korean pickled radish with seasoning) is an easy and versatile dish to make.

It can be used as a substitute for Kimchi or paired with other side dishes.

It goes well with meat dishes, spaghetti, pasta, or even instant noodles.

Preparing it doesn't take long and it can be enjoyed for a period of time once made!

단무지 Dan-mu-ji is a yellow pickled radish and it can be easily purchased at Asian/ Korean grocery stores.

I used a package with three radishes and scaled the ingredients accordingly. If only one radish is used, reduce the chili powder and sesame oil to 1 TSP each.

Ingredients

Danmuji (Korean yellow pickled Radish) 3

Spring onion 1

Crushed Garlic 1 TSP

Chili powder 2-3 TSP

Sesame oil 2-3 TSP

Sesame seeds

To make Danmuji muchim (Korean pickled radish side dish with seasoning),

simply follow these steps!

First, rinse the radish under water and slice it into thin (0.5 cm) pieces.

Place the sliced radish in a medium bowl.

Then, finely chop the spring onions.

In the bowl with the radish, add 1 TSP of crushed garlic, 2-3 TSP of Chili powder,

the finely chopped spring onions, and 2-3 TSP of Sesame oil.

Mix all ingredients together well.

Place them in a container with a tight-fitting lid.

Sprinkle sesame seeds on top.

*Depending on your desired level of spiciness, you can adjust the amount of chili powder used to 2 or 3 spoons.

That's it!

The dish is now complete and ready to enjoy.

It's incredibly easy to make. You can use it as a garnish for any meal.
