Magic Soy Sauce Korean-Style Chicken Stew Recipe (Dakdoritang, Dakbokkeumtang)

This delicious and hearty Korean-style chicken stew is easy to make and is perfect for a comforting and satisfying meal. It is called 닭도리탕 (Dakdori-tang) or 닭볶음탕 (Dak-bokkeum-tang) and it can also be made with Gochujang (Korean Chilli paste) Sauce.


However, today we are going to make it with Magic Soy Sauce!

Ingredients:
  • 4 chicken legs

  • 2 potatoes

  • 2 carrots

  • 1 zucchini

  • 1 onion

  • A small piece of ginger

  • A little bit of minced garlic

  • Magic Soy Sauce (you can make your own using the recipe below)

For the seasoning sauce:
  • 7-8 tablespoons of Magic soy sauce

  • 1/2 onion (finely chopped)

  • 1/2 tablespoon of minced garlic

  • 2 tablespoons of honey

Instructions:
  1. Start by blanching the chicken legs: Remove any unpleasant smell from the chicken legs by boiling them briefly in water with a small piece of ginger. Once they have been parboiled, remove them from the pot and score the chicken legs to allow the seasoning to penetrate.

  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the magic sauce, minced garlic, finely chopped onion, and honey.

  4. Place the parboiled chicken legs back into the pot with about 1/2 cup of water. Add a little bit of the seasoning sauce to the pot and bring it to a boil.

  5. Once the water has come to a boil, add the prepared vegetables to the pot.

  6. Pour in the remaining seasoning sauce and continue to boil the stew until the chicken legs are cooked through and the vegetables are tender.

  7. Adjust the seasoning to taste and add additional spices like red pepper flakes for extra spiciness if desired.

  8. Serve the Korean-style chicken stew hot with rice or other side dishes.
