"Let's be true to ourselves."
This has been a central theme among members of my meditation group recently.
When we treat each other wholeheartedly with sincerity and work without a calculating mind, life becomes much better.
Often, we tend to overthink our actions, trying to ensure we don’t lose anything while maximizing our benefits. This has certainly been true for me, as I’ve reflected on my own life.
The inability to be genuinely true often stems from a mind cluttered with thoughts, greed, and self-centeredness.
I recall a project where I worked as an interpreter for a couple of days. When the project concluded, I received a message from the project team leader expressing gratitude on behalf of the team. It was a sincere and heartfelt message that deeply moved me, prompting me to reflect on the work from a different perspective. Initially, I was just relieved that the work was over and didn't give it much thought.
However, the warmth of that message has stayed with me, reminding me of a phrase from one of my favourite books, "Nature's Flow":
"But that which is done from the true Mind is sweeter than the scent of a thousand flowers."
When was the last time I truly appreciated someone for what they've done? This sincere appreciation made me realize the truth of a saying: "Being appreciated has the best healing power."
The phrase mentioning the scent of a thousand flowers then reminded me of this famous Korean poem that resonates deeply with me, and I would like to share it. I hope the English version captures some of its delicate nuance:
Flower
by Kim Choon Soo
Before I called his name,
he was just a gesture.
When I called his name,
he came to me and became a flower.
Like I called his name,
someone who fits my color and scent,
please call my name.
I want to go to him and become his flower.
All of us,
want to be something.
I want to become an unforgettable gaze to you,
and you to me.
Let's strive to be genuine, to appreciate others sincerely, and to let go of the calculating mindset. When we do, we allow the true essence of our actions to blossom, much like a flower called by its name.
Thats a really nice poem 🌸
