Today I've achieved my 1000th-day streak on Duolingo. So I am giving myself a well-deserved pat on the back to congratulate myself and perhaps indulging in a delightful cup of hot chocolate. Yay!
Duolingo and Streaks
Duoling is a free language-learning app and website that uses a game-like system to teach users a new language. (There is a paid option as well if you want to remove ads) I've been learning Spanish using this app and it's been a very interesting journey.
It has a feature called streaks. It measures how many consecutive days you have completed at least one lesson on the app. This is to motivate people to continue learning and practicing their target language and it certainly helped me stick to my daily practice. So, my 1000-day streak means I've never missed a day for 1000 days!

Well, my Spanish vocabulary has definitely expanded significantly since I first started, but I still struggle with speaking it fluently. However, as I am just doing it for fun, this aspect doesn't concern me. Rather, this is something I do to build my "consistency-muscle" power.
Consistency Muscle Power
Have you ever come across the term "Consistency Muscle Power"? It wouldn't be surprising if you haven't, because, well, I just made up. lol.
We all understand the significance of being consistent in order to accomplish anything.
Consistency is more important than being a genius. A genius may have a brilliant idea, but without consistent action, it will remain just an idea. Consistency turns ideas into reality.
Even if it is just 5 minutes a day, doing it every day without fail needs your discipline.
When I started Duolingo, I thought to myself "Why don't you make it into an everyday habit?" Then it will naturally help me to improve my Spanish but it will also teach me how to be consistent. The streaks feature definitely helped me. As I built this consistency habit, it also gave me confidence in doing other things consistently and this is what I call the 'consistency muscle' power.
When you do something consistently and diligently, there are things you learn and achieve along the way.
