What do you think of Heaven and Hell? Do you believe they exist?
Let me tell you a story of a man who visited both Heaven and Hell! (Well, it is an analogy, don't be so serious as to argue whether the man really visited or not. lol)
I often use this analogy to illustrate how we should live our lives.
The story goes like this;
There was a man who had an opportunity to visit both Heaven and Hell.
When he returned, everyone was eager to hear about his experiences.
"So, how was it? Tell us all about it!" they asked.
The man began his tale, "To my surprise, Heaven and Hell were both beautiful places, filled with beautiful fragrant flowers and trees, and delicious food."
People were intrigued, "How could Hell be beautiful too?"
"Well, there was a difference," the man continued, "I noticed a huge difference in people. The people in heaven were so happy, and grateful. They were laughing all the time. Whereas people in hell were very grumpy, unhappy, and sour. They were even hungry despite having a feast in front of them."
"How is that possible?" People asked.
The man replied, "There were these long arm-length chopsticks. People in hell were using them to feed themselves but obviously, the chopsticks were too long and it was very awkward to eat anything with them. So people were simply dropping food and were not able to eat well. Then I realized what the difference was."
"What? How about the people in heaven? How come they are happy and eating so well?"
The man smiled and answered, "That is what I was getting at. People in heaven were using the chopsticks to feed others. As they were arm-length long, it was a perfect fit to feed each other. They had no problem enjoying food and the laughter was never-ending."
The chopsticks represent our resources, such as talent, skills, knowledge, time, money, and anything else we have. They are to be used for others. This is the way to live in Heaven.
The one who has the mind to be able to do so is the one who has heaven within.
Recently I came across this quote on Facebook and it tells us a similar message.
"Nothing in nature lives for itself.
The rivers do not drink their own water;
the trees do not eat their own fruit;
the sun does not shine on itself
and flowers do not spread their fragrance for themselves.
Living for others is a rule of nature."
There comes the secret of Heaven: Living for others!
Thank you for reading and here is a nice poem for you to enjoy!
